Job Description
A technical writer role focused on creating comprehensive documentation, tutorials, and API references for Esri's ArcGIS Maps SDKs, aimed at empowering developers to build geospatial applications across desktop and mobile platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Create documentation for ArcGIS Maps SDKs, including guides, tutorials, API references, and blog content
- Test new SDK features to ensure accurate representation across supported versions and products
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to clarify complex technical concepts
- Address and triage customer-reported documentation issues
- Engage with the developer community through blogs, videos, social media, conferences, and online forums
Requirements
- Five years of experience with technical writing, ideally with developer documentation such as API, SDK, and related materials.
- Related software development experience, including knowledge of at least one modern programming language commonly used for SDK API development.
- Ability to pick up new technical concepts quickly.
- Ability to break down complex API into clear, concise, and compelling stories and effectively communicate them.
- Solid understanding of Git.
- Ability to learn and work with industry-standard content management tools.
- Proven ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to extract and clarify essential concepts from complex technical information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, computer science, or a related field.
