Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer at EnergyHub is responsible for developing and maintaining cloud-based energy management systems, focusing on demand response services, device control, and scalable infrastructure to support a clean energy future.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to all parts of the software stack, including distributed services, queuing, and data layers.
- Expand and improve the cloud-based, mission-critical, 24x7 production system with high uptime requirements.
- Create architecture and design documents, write, test, and review code.
- Develop next-generation demand response and energy efficiency services for utilities.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure seamless integration with partners.
Requirements
- 5 years professional software engineering experience, preferably in a small to medium-sized team
- Java experience preferably Java 11
- Strong experience in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and core engineering design patterns and principles
- Strong experience in testing methodologies
- Experience with web services and RESTful APIs using Spring
- Ability to create architecture and design documents, write, test, and review code
- Experience working on mission-critical, 24x7 production systems with stringent uptime requirements
- Experience in contributing to all parts of the software stack, including distributed services, queuing, and data layers
- Experience with developing and improving cloud-based systems
- Experience with demand response and energy efficiency services for utilities (preferred but not explicitly mandatory)
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python (preferred but not explicitly mandatory)
- Experience with information security protocols including PKI, TLS, OAuth, SSO, and penetration testing (preferred but not explicitly mandatory)
- Experience with front-end technologies such as React, Sass, and Webpack (preferred but not explicitly mandatory)
- Experience with automated testing, continuous integration, deployment, and monitoring systems (preferred but not explicitly mandatory)
- Experience with database and data processing pipelines, specifically with RabbitMQ, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, and S3
- Ability to own progress from architecture design to production support, owning all parts of the development process
- Willingness to collaborate with all teams at EnergyHub to offer the best integration experience to partners
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute immediately upon joining
