Job Description
The Engineering Manager at EnergyHub leads a team responsible for managing IoT devices used to balance the power grid, focusing on strategic planning, software development, and team growth to support a scalable, reliable, and innovative energy management platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight, architectural direction, and execution for new team initiatives.
- Guide the team with clear priorities, scope, and direction.
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to working in the existing code base.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define the team's mission, vision, and roadmap.
- Ensure timely delivery of quality, scalable, well-tested code within scope.
- Improve organizational processes and technical skills through agile practices and coaching.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience directly managing teams of developers, ideally with teams of 5-7 members.
- Core technical knowledge and experience with Java, Spring, AWS EC2, ECS, MongoDB, and PostGres.
- Experience with other technologies such as Python and C .NET to drive automation and micro-service efforts.
- Strong foundational understanding of computer science principles and SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) best practices.
- Experience with architecture, scalability, and reliability to support growth to higher dispatch volumes.
- Ability to learn from challenging projects and implement appropriate corrections to improve processes, resources, and coaching.
- Ability to work well with ambiguity and in a dynamic work environment.
- Belief in a test-first approach to coding.
- Experience successfully launching multiple products or new features into the market.
