Job Description

The role involves leading policy and regulatory efforts to promote demand-side management and distributed energy resources, advocating for utility reforms, and shaping energy policies to support grid modernization and clean energy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute regulatory and legislative engagement strategies across North America, focusing on grid modernization, DER, and energy policies.
  • Lead engagement in public utility commission proceedings and legislative sessions to scale customer programs and advocate for demand flexibility reforms.
  • Participate in integrated resource planning, VPP studies, and distribution system planning to promote demand-side resources and virtual power plants.
  • Educate regulators and advocate for the role of software and DERMS in demand flexibility programs.
  • Represent EnergyHub as a thought leader in electric vehicle program design and managed charging programs.
  • Track regulatory trends and brief senior leadership to inform product and strategy development.
  • Lead efforts to evaluate new business models and programs in response to policy initiatives.
  • Research and develop expertise in regulatory topics to accelerate adoption of grid-edge resources and programs.
  • Foster relationships with trade associations and represent EnergyHub at industry conferences.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to create thought leadership materials and advocacy content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) with 4-7 years of work experience, including at least 2 years in the energy sector.
  • Familiarity with the electricity industry and utility business model, including understanding of key trends and stakeholder landscape.
  • Experience with federal, statewide, and utility electric vehicle initiatives.
  • Basic understanding of distribution system management.
  • Ability to draft and copy edit regulatory comments, media, blogs, and customer-facing marketing and sales content.
  • Experience using Excel, Salesforce, Tableau, or other software tools to analyze and visualize data.
  • Experience in the energy and utilities industry, with a total of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency and demand-side management technologies and regulations.
  • Familiarity with utility programs and regulatory concepts.
  • Experience participating in utility stakeholder proceedings or working groups.
  • Experience researching and analyzing the market impact of new policies, regulations, and program implementation rules.
  • Ability to develop and execute regulatory and legislative engagement strategies for North America, with potential focus on eastern and central regions.
  • Experience leading engagement in public utility commission proceedings and legislative sessions to help scale customer programs and advocate for reforms.
  • Ability to prioritize high-leverage advocacy opportunities related to grid modernization, integrated resource planning, demand-side management, transportation electrification, energy storage, rate cases, state and federal legislation, and grant programs.
  • Experience participating in integrated resource planning, virtual power plant potential studies, and distribution system planning cycles to promote demand-side resources and virtual power plants.
  • Ability to educate regulators and advocate for the role of software and DERMS in facilitating demand flexibility through utility-led programs and rates.
  • Experience representing an organization as a thought leader in electric vehicle program design to ensure managed charging programs monetize the full grid value of EV assets.
  • Ability to track national and state regulatory trends and brief senior leadership and internal stakeholders to support product roadmap planning.
  • Experience leading cross-functional efforts to evaluate new business models or program ideas in response to federal or state policy initiatives.
  • Research skills and ability to gain expertise in regulatory topics such as performance-based ratemaking, software capitalization, technical resource manuals, and M V protocols.
  • Ability to foster relationships with trade associations and represent the organization at industry conferences.
  • Experience working with Product Marketing to create thought leadership materials such as blog posts and white papers, and to identify and onboard outside consultants for advocacy materials.
