Job Description
An Engineering Manager role focused on leading software development teams responsible for managing IoT devices that support grid stability and renewable energy integration, with an emphasis on strategic planning, architecture, and team growth in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight, architectural direction, and execute new team initiatives such as code refactoring and transitioning to micro-services.
- Conduct code reviews and work directly within the existing code base as needed.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define the team’s mission, vision, and roadmap.
- Ensure the team delivers quality, scalable, well-tested code on time and within scope.
- Guide the team with clear priorities and scope, and manage their work effectively.
- Improve organizational processes through agile practices and technical skill development.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to enhance their skills and performance.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience directly managing teams of developers, ideally with teams of 5-7 members.
- Core technical knowledge and experience with Java, Spring, AWS EC2, ECS, MongoDB, and PostGres.
- Experience with other technologies such as Python and C .NET to drive automation and micro-service efforts.
- Strong foundational understanding of computer science principles and SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) best practices.
- Experience with architecture, scalability, and reliability to support growth to higher volumes of dispatch.
- Ability to learn from challenging projects with appropriate corrections to improve process, resource, and coaching.
- Ability to work well with ambiguity and in a dynamic work environment.
- Belief in a test-first approach to coding.
- Experience successfully launching multiple products or new features into the market.

Compensation/salary range: $160,000 - $195,000 USD
