Job Description
The Engineering Director at EnergyHub leads the development and performance of key applications managing millions of grid-edge devices to ensure grid stability and support decarbonization efforts, while overseeing technical teams, system reliability, and strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee key application components that orchestrate actions of grid-edge devices to safeguard the grid and support decarbonization.
- Lead and mentor engineering teams responsible for building and maintaining the system, ensuring reliability, observability, safety, and equity.
- Collaborate with product teams to define roadmaps and identify growth opportunities.
- Establish best practices across engineering teams, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.
- Design and build core application systems, including APIs and automations, to enable grid stability and integration with external systems.
Requirements
- Hands on experience working with large complex systems, message queues, AWS or other cloud platforms
- Demonstrated success managing multiple technical teams
- Experience with a microservices environment
- A track record of building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Can read, write, and deploy code, even if not doing it regularly
- Passionate about technology and innovation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with some of the technologies used such as Java and Springboot, RabbitMQ, SQS, gRPC, NoSQL, Redis, Postgresql, Snowflake, dbt or similar data modeling, transformation and warehouse solutions
- Experience transitioning to a service-oriented architecture
- Experience building APIs for external clients
- Experience working in a compliant environment
- Energy industry experience
