Job Description

The PLEXOS Modeling Consultant role involves supporting energy market analysis and planning by applying production simulation and capacity expansion tools, contributing to client reports, and providing technical expertise in energy policy and market development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and lead client-facing interactions to identify project approaches and methods
  • Direct workstreams within projects and contribute to written reports and papers
  • Deliver findings, summaries, and presentations to clients and stakeholders
  • Perform investigative tasks, quality assurance, and control of modeling products
  • Become a technical lead on project needs and flagship modeling tools

Requirements

  • Experience with PLEXOS modeling software, including applying production simulation short-term (ST) and capacity expansion long-term (LT) tools to operational and planning questions, and developing forecasts of long-term evolution of major U.S. and Canadian power markets.
  • Strong analytical skills and/or policy experience related to energy issues.
  • Ability to examine, research, and offer creative solutions to complex energy problems.
  • Curiosity and a proactive approach to assist the team in solving energy-related challenges.
  • Experience in clearly presenting information to a variety of stakeholders, including delivering findings and summaries through presentations and written reports.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills to create and implement work plans that are efficient and provide guidance to clients.
  • Ability to assist and/or lead client-facing interactions, identify approaches and methods for project tasks, and contribute heavily to written reports and papers.
  • Experience in directing workstreams within projects and becoming a technical head on various project needs or flagship modeling tools.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment, including working extended hours in front of a computer and conducting meetings virtually or via telephone.
  • Availability to work full-time in an exempt position, with a flexible work schedule from offices in San Francisco, New York, Boston, Calgary, or Denver.
  • Willingness to travel between 0-10% as required for project needs.
