Job Description

The PLEXOS Modeling Consultant at E3 is responsible for applying production simulation and capacity expansion tools to analyze and forecast power market trends, contribute to client projects, and develop industry-leading energy models, supporting strategic decision-making in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and lead client-facing interactions to identify project approaches and methods
  • Direct workstreams within projects and contribute to written reports and papers
  • Deliver findings and summaries to clients through presentations and Q&A sessions
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control of modeling products
  • Develop expertise in technical modeling tools and serve as a technical lead on project needs

Requirements

  • Experience with PLEXOS modeling software, including applying production simulation short-term (ST) and capacity expansion long-term (LT) tools, with demonstrated ability to develop industry-leading forecasts of long-term evolution of major U.S. and Canadian power markets.
  • Strong analytical skills and/or policy experience related to energy markets, planning, regulation, or environmental factors.
  • Ability to clearly present information and findings to a variety of stakeholders, including delivering presentations and responding to questions.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills that enable creating and executing work plans efficiently while providing guidance to serve clients.
  • Experience in assisting or leading client-facing interactions, identifying project approaches and methods, and contributing to written reports and papers.
  • Ability to direct workstreams within projects and contribute heavily to project deliverables.
  • Willingness and ability to work full-time in a hybrid work environment, including extended hours in front of a computer and conducting meetings virtually or via telephone.
  • Educational background or experience relevant to energy consulting, modeling, or policy (specific degree requirements are not explicitly stated but implied through experience and skills).
  • Participation in or familiarity with practice areas such as Climate Pathways and Electrification, Asset Valuation, Transmission, and Markets, or Integrated System Planning (preferred but not explicitly mandatory).
