Job Description

The Senior Tax Associate at Cypress Creek Renewables is responsible for managing tax compliance, reporting, and research for the company's renewable energy projects, ensuring timely filing and accurate tax calculations while supporting process improvements and audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and ensure timely filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns
  • Prepare federal and state quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Assist in preparation and review of HLBV calculations
  • Compile supporting financial statements and documents for tax purposes
  • Conduct tax research and prepare related memos
  • Resolve federal, state, and local tax notices and audits
  • Maintain and develop income tax internal controls
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the tax function

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax; a Master's degree in Tax is a plus.
  • CPA license strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant tax experience with a large corporate or public accounting firm; Big4 experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with tax return preparation, tax provision, and a strong understanding of common tax laws and regulations.
  • Knowledgeable in accounting principles.
  • Experience with federal, state, and local income tax compliance, including coordinating and ensuring the timely filing of income tax returns.
  • Ability to prepare federal and state quarterly estimated tax payments.
  • Experience with tax research projects and preparing memos.
  • Ability to assist in the resolution of federal, state, and local tax notices and audits.
  • Ability to compile supporting financial statements and documents.
  • Ability to maintain, document, and develop income tax related internal controls.
  • Ability to identify and implement best practice process improvements across the tax function.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with regulatory agencies, tax reviewers, state and local authorities, independent auditors, attorneys, peers, and all levels of corporate management.
  • Must be detail-oriented, resourceful, organized, and able to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Must be a self-starter who can manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • People management and development experience.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid schedule with an in-office presence of three days per week at one of the company's office locations, preferably Washington, DC.
