Job Description
The role involves managing a team of field technicians to perform maintenance on solar PV systems, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and troubleshooting across utility-scale solar and storage assets. It requires technical expertise in photovoltaic systems, safety standards, and coordination of field operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and direction for field technicians performing maintenance on solar PV systems
- Plan and schedule daily field operations to optimize plant performance
- Manage subcontractors and external vendors involved in maintenance activities
- Identify safety hazards and implement measures to eliminate or mitigate risks
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in PV systems, including DC, AC, and communication components
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards during maintenance activities
Requirements
- Experience with management of a diverse team of field technicians in a solar or renewable energy environment
- NABCEP Certified Installation Professional
- At least 2 years of experience in PV maintenance, including PV DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, network communications, and monitoring
- Experience with operation of SCADA, DAS, and UPS systems
- Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, IV Curve Tracing, Meggers, and Ground Fault Detection
- Experience in all aspects of PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, and network communications and monitoring
- Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found in PV systems
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and standard design construction practices
- Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams
- Proficiency with MS Office suite
- Valid Driver's License
- OSHA 30 HR Training
- NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the workplace
- Must have the ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends
- Physical ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on occasion
- Work in the field and in the office, complying with all safety standards and procedures, including PPE such as hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, and hearing protection
