A Field Service Technician at Cypress Creek Energy performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of utility-scale solar PV systems, ensuring safety and operational efficiency across multiple sites, with responsibilities including testing, reporting, and emergency response in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of solar PV systems on-site
Conduct DC and AC testing, including polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding, communication, insulation resistance, and I-V curve tracing
Maintain tools, meters, vehicle, and spare parts inventory
Create service reports and document operational issues and downtime
Identify and eliminate safety hazards during maintenance activities
Respond to emergency repair cases and on-call service requests
Requirements
Possess at least 3-4 years of experience in PV maintenance, including PV DC operations, AC medium voltage systems, network communications, and monitoring.
Have a NABCEP Certified Installation Professional certification.
Demonstrate experience with operation of SCADA, DAS, and UPS systems.
Be skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection devices, IV Curve Tracing, Meggers, and Ground Fault Detection tools.
Have diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found in PV systems.
Possess knowledge of the National Electrical Code and standard design construction practices.
Be able to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
Be proficient with the MS Office suite.
Hold a valid Driver's License.
Complete OSHA 10 HR Training.
Be familiar with NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the workplace.
Have the ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.
Work in the field and office environments, maintaining excellent attendance and punctuality.
Adhere to safety and quality procedures and practices, including the use of PPE such as hard hats, arc flash protection, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day.
Be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
Be comfortable with daily local travel and managing work both in the field and remotely.
Create service reports and maintain spare parts inventory.
Identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards.
Respond on-call for emergencies as directed by supervisor.
