Job Description
The Array Service Technician is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on solar photovoltaic systems, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of solar assets across multiple sites, primarily through travel and fieldwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance activities on solar PV systems
- Troubleshoot, test, and repair PV systems in response to corrective maintenance cases
- Conduct on-site testing including polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding, communication, insulation resistance, and I-V curve tracing
- Maintain vehicle, tools, meters, and spare parts inventory
- Create service reports and document major issues and operability
- Identify and eliminate safety hazards during maintenance activities
Requirements
- Ability to perform required preventative maintenance activities on solar PV systems, including troubleshooting, testing, and repairing PV systems.
- Experience in conducting on-site routine maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair of solar photovoltaic facilities.
- Proficiency in DC and AC testing such as polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, communication, insulation resistance testing, and I-V curve tracing.
- Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
- Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found in solar PV systems.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite for creating service reports and maintaining documentation.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to work in the field and in the office, complying with all safety standards and procedures.
- Must have the ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Must have the ability to travel up to 80 overnight trips as required for project deployment.
- Must be able to work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends as needed.
- Must have completed OSHA 10 HR Training.
- Must have NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the workplace certification or training.
- Must be able to identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards.
- Must be able to create operability and major issue downtime reports.
- Must be physically capable of wearing PPE including hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
- Must be able to work in various environments, including outdoor field conditions and office settings, while adhering to safety standards.
