Job Description
The Forecasting Analytics Intern will assist in developing and benchmarking predictive models for energy generation and weather data, evaluate early-warning systems for performance issues, and create data visualizations to support renewable energy asset management.
Key Responsibilities
- Benchmark various time series forecasting tools on energy generation and weather data using Python
- Evaluate the applicability of statistical process control (SPC) tools for early warning of performance issues at renewable energy sites
- Develop interactive data applications, dashboards, and automate data analysis and visualization processes
- Assist in creating documentation for key datasets and analytical tools
- Present findings and recommendations to team members and leadership
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in a program related to Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative fields, and classified as a rising junior or senior.
- Availability to participate in a 10-week Summer Internship Program beginning on June 1, 2026, and ending on August 7, 2026.
- Ability to work in a hybrid role based in Scottsdale, AZ, with in-office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Familiarity with Python programming language.
- Experience or familiarity with statistical analysis or machine learning concepts.
- Experience with data visualization libraries such as Matplotlib, Plotly, or Streamlit.
- Strong problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity.
- Willingness to evaluate and benchmark various time series forecasting tools, including classical statistical methods, modern machine learning, and time series foundation models, on energy generation and weather data.
- Ability to develop interactive data applications, dashboards, and automate end-to-end data analysis and visualization processes.
- Ability to assist in creating documentation for key datasets and tools.
- Ability to present findings and recommendations to the team and leadership at the end of the internship.
