Job Description
The Capital Markets Intern will support project finance modeling, data automation, and analysis related to renewable energy projects, gaining hands-on experience in project structuring, market trends, and financing processes within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Refine and develop Excel-based project finance model templates for renewable energy projects.
- Develop and improve data automation connecting financial models and data systems, including exploring AI-based enhancements.
- Architect and implement analytical and data infrastructure to support structured project finance analysis across the organization.
- Analyze market trends, regulations, and industry news related to renewable energy financing and present findings to the team.
- Implement financing terms into project finance models and communicate underwriting standards to internal stakeholders.
- Support the process of securing capital by assisting in financing processes and preparing reports on transaction status, risks, and benefits.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math, STEM, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field with an expected graduation in Spring 2027.
- Able to work in a hybrid role based in the San Francisco office, with in-office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Possess advanced Excel skills and understanding of key financial concepts such as financial statements, accrual vs. cash accounting, discounted cash flow analysis, time value of money, internal rate of return, and net present value.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and working together to achieve company-wide objectives.
- Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated interest in renewable energy, including recent industry updates and market dynamics.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills, including the willingness to ask questions, listen to colleagues, and contribute ideas.
- Be self-motivated, dependable, and accountable, showing up consistently, being present, and eager to dive into the workday.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and take ownership of projects and assignments.
- Comfortable taking initiative, asking questions, and speaking up.
- Eager attitude towards learning about the role that the Capital Markets Team plays within Clearway and the renewable energy project finance industry.
