The Associate, Project Development supports and manages the development of large-scale renewable energy projects across the Western U.S., overseeing activities from site selection and permitting to financing and construction, with a focus on solar, wind, and storage assets.
Key Responsibilities
Support and manage the development of large-scale renewable energy projects from proposal to commissioning.
Identify and implement project development strategies to reduce risks and optimize value.
Conduct due diligence and support portfolio acquisitions based on project metrics.
Administer development service agreements and manage relationships with local stakeholders.
Collaborate with land acquisition and engineering teams to secure site control and evaluate site options.
Coordinate interconnection requests, load-flow studies, and transmission studies.
Negotiate and review project contracts including PPAs, GIAs, and EPC agreements.
Assist in project financing efforts to secure equity and debt commitments.
Support marketing efforts for power purchase and offtake agreements.
Create and manage project budgets and schedules, and prepare development materials for management.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, environmental science, or a related field is required.
Understanding and ability to navigate complex permitting pathways for energy projects in the western United States.
Minimum of 2 years of applicable experience in the renewable energy industry in the U.S., with direct experience and competence in full life-cycle development of utility-scale solar and/or wind projects.
Experience and familiarity with all facets of land development including landowner engagement and negotiation, contracting, title resolution, subdivision, agricultural land use, water restrictions, land ALTA surveys, GIS, and other real estate elements as required.
A high level of critical thought and a drive to manage and support multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience managing project schedules and project budgets, as well as an understanding of key project value levers such as commercial and financial factors.
Ability to travel as required to projects within the footprint of Clearway’s West Region, approximately 25% travel.
