The role involves providing expert economic and regulatory consulting services to utility clients in the energy sector, including advising on rate cases, utility transactions, and regulatory strategies, with opportunities for leadership, business development, and industry thought leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Advise clients in the regulated energy sector on issues related to utility regulation, rate cases, and infrastructure projects.
Represent utilities and energy firms before regulators and support dispute resolution.
Develop strategies to create value and reduce risk for utility clients and stakeholders.
Lead technical aspects of utility rate cases and docketed proceedings.
Provide expert testimony and analysis on utility revenue requirements, cost of capital, cost of service, and rate design.
Manage complex consulting projects independently, including all phases of regulatory proceedings.
Support business development efforts to grow the practice area.
Requirements
More than 10 years of utility industry consulting experience, proven team leadership skills, and subject matter expertise in areas such as utility revenue requirements, cost of capital, cost of service, rate design, utility transactions, or regulatory strategy.
Experience in leading all aspects of utility state and/or federal rate cases and similar docketed proceedings, including project management responsibilities.
Demonstrated success in consulting roles within the utility industry, or in-house experience with utility companies, banks, developers, or regulatory agencies.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant financial, economics, or business discipline.
Master's degree in a relevant field is strongly desired.
Ability to independently manage consulting teams and complex assignments with limited oversight.
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop junior staff.
Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to convey complex, technical concepts with impact.
Familiarity with ratemaking proceedings, disputes, or other docketed regulatory matters.
Comfort working in an unstructured environment.
Strong problem-solving abilities and resourcefulness.
