The Hybrid Cloud Architect at Charles River Associates is responsible for enabling the organization's transition to a hybrid cloud environment by assessing workloads, optimizing infrastructure, leading proof-of-concept projects, and developing governance and automation frameworks to support modernization efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Assess workload migration readiness and evaluate infrastructure for cloud migration.
Optimize on-premises compute, storage, and virtualization platforms for hybrid integration.
Configure and maintain core services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and certificate services for hybrid operations.
Validate network segmentation, routing, firewalls, and load balancing for secure cloud connectivity.
Review and enhance backup and disaster recovery practices, defining hybrid DR patterns and recovery objectives.
Lead proof-of-concept projects for hybrid cloud solutions and validate migration strategies.
Develop and implement cloud governance frameworks, including security, compliance, and cost management.
Support automation tool adoption (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) for cloud provisioning and management.
Collaborate with teams to standardize practices, share expertise, and support hybrid initiatives.
Document migration processes, governance standards, and lessons learned to enable team training.
Requirements
Experience with cloud platforms AWS, Azure, GCP and hybrid cloud architectures.
Experience with Broadcom vSphere VCF, Dell compute, and modern backup solutions such as Rubrik.
Strong understanding of workload migration, cloud governance, and automation tools.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
Ability to lead proof-of-concept projects and collaborate across teams.
Effective communication skills with experience in documentation and knowledge sharing.
Experience assessing existing workloads and infrastructure for cloud migration readiness.
Experience evaluating opportunities and challenges for moving workloads to AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience assessing and improving on-premises compute, storage, and virtualization platforms including capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle patch management for VMware vSphere and supporting infrastructure.
Experience partnering with domain identity owners to ensure Active Directory, Azure AD integration, group policy strategy, DNS, DHCP, certificate services, and time synchronization are configured for secure, resilient hybrid operations.
Experience validating on-prem network segmentation, routing, firewalls, and load balancing to enable secure connectivity to cloud environments such as VPN, ExpressRoute, or Direct Connect, including latency and bandwidth requirements.
Experience reviewing and enhancing on-premises backup and disaster recovery practices using Rubrik policies, retention, immutability, restore testing, and defining hybrid disaster recovery patterns with specified RPO and RTO.
Experience leading hybrid cloud proof-of-concept initiatives such as analytics sandboxes and VDI burst capacity projects.
Experience developing and implementing cloud governance frameworks, including security, compliance, and cost management (FinOps).
Experience supporting automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform for cloud provisioning, configuration, and management.
Ability to document cloud migration processes, governance standards, and lessons learned.
Experience with security, compliance, and cost management in cloud environments is preferred.
Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience in cloud computing, infrastructure, or related fields.
