Job Description
The Associate Principal at Charles River Associates conducts economic and financial analysis related to competition policy, mergers, and regulatory proceedings, providing expert reports and strategic advice to clients while managing research teams and collaborating with legal and industry professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with academics, attorneys, and clients on economic, finance, and strategy issues
- Conduct research and analyze economic and financial data using complex models
- Develop and present client deliverables, including expert reports and analyses
- Oversee statistical analysis using tools like Stata, SAS, R, or Python
- Manage research processes and supervise, train, and mentor junior analysts
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of analyses and opinions
- Assist in providing economic analyses for judicial proceedings and competition matters
Requirements
- A graduate degree in economics or a related discipline, with strong achievement in the program, such as a Masters or PhD.
- 6-9 years of extensive and relevant experience in economics and antitrust consulting, with a preference for experience in antitrust and competition economics.
- Demonstrated understanding of economic concepts, competition regulatory authorities, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Experience managing and developing teams of junior colleagues.
- Strong executive client presence and interaction skills.
- Ability to independently conceptualize and identify issues, and design complex economic and financial models to analyze economic and financial data.
- Experience overseeing analysis in statistical analysis programs such as Stata, SAS, R, or Python.
- Ability to work closely with leading academics, attorneys, and clients in industry and government on a wide variety of finance, strategy, and economics issues.
- Experience acting as a primary point of contact for clients and assisting in the development and presentation of client deliverables, including expert reports and third-party data.
- Experience working with those testifying in judicial proceedings to provide economic analyses of mergers and other competition matters before major competition authorities.
- Willingness and ability to assist with recruiting and training of new colleagues.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, supervising, training, and mentoring junior analysts.
- Experience designing and analyzing complex economic and financial models, and overseeing statistical analysis in programs such as Stata, SAS, R, or Python.
