The role involves providing economic and market modeling expertise in the energy sector, including developing and analyzing power and natural gas market models, supporting utility and infrastructure projects, and advising clients on complex energy market issues.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and develop power and natural gas market models, including capacity expansion, production cost, storage, reliability, and revenue requirement models.
Perform quantitative analysis such as developing market scenarios, evaluating energy technologies, calculating LCOEs, and running market simulations.
Support engagements related to utility integrated resource plans, power plant and infrastructure due diligence, reliability assessments, and sector analysis.
Contribute to the development and vetting of industry-leading models through research, programming, and analysis in areas like reliability, resource adequacy, storage, and EV/DER penetration.
Develop presentations and reports to communicate complex findings to clients clearly and accurately.
Oversee junior staff in producing reports, presentations, and market analyses.
Requirements
A minimum of two years of professional experience in power and or natural gas market modeling using tools like AURORAxmp, PLEXOS, PROMOD, and Encompass.
Previous project and client management experience is required.
Strong interest in and knowledge of power and natural gas market modeling and solving client challenges that depend on this modeling.
Excellent presentation skills and writing ability.
Strong problem solving abilities and resourcefulness.
Working well in a team environment, and willingness to provide mentorship and supervision to junior staff members.
Ability to be located in Boston or Washington DC in a hybrid working environment.
