Job Description

This role involves managing and automating a hardware lab for Ubuntu server certification, developing and extending hardware management tools using Python, and collaborating with a global team to improve data center operations and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate the lab for Ubuntu server certification, including hardware and software setup.
  • Develop and extend MAAS automation tooling using Python to support hardware management and integration.
  • Coordinate with vendors, track assets, and handle deliveries for lab equipment.
  • Maintain and update hardware and network monitoring systems through automation.
  • Ensure the physical organization and configuration of the lab environment.
  • Standardize processes, configurations, and procedures across data centers.
  • Update asset management tools and firmware for lab hardware as needed.

Requirements

  • The candidate must be based in Xizhi District, New Taipei City and be willing to work on-site at the lab.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • Python programming experience.
  • Linux Administration experience.
  • Experience working with a mix of Rack and Virtual systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work with a globally distributed team of passionate engineers.
  • An exceptional academic track record from both high school and preferably university.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
  • Experience in managing and operating a server lab, including software defined hardware management and automation tooling.
  • Experience developing or working with Metal as a Service (MAAS) software to work with server and network hardware.
  • Experience creating integrations with testing and scheduling software such as Testflinger.
  • Experience managing the physical setup of a lab, including structuring, tidying, and executing changes either self or through remote hands.
  • Experience standardizing processes, configurations, and procedures in cooperation with engineers in other data centres.
  • Experience improving and extending hardware and network monitoring through automation.
  • Experience updating asset management tools to ensure hardware accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience updating equipment firmware when appropriate.
