Job Description

This role involves managing and automating a hardware lab for Ubuntu server certification, utilizing Python development skills to enhance hardware management tools, and collaborating with a global team to improve data center operations and automation processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate the lab for Ubuntu server certification, including hardware and software management.
  • Develop and enhance MAAS automation tooling for server and network hardware integration using Python.
  • Expand lab automation by creating integrations with testing and scheduling software such as Testflinger.
  • Oversee physical setup, organization, and maintenance of the lab environment.
  • Standardize processes, configurations, and procedures across data centers.
  • Automate hardware and network monitoring systems to improve efficiency.
  • Update asset management tools to maintain accurate hardware records.
  • Perform firmware updates on equipment as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Python programming experience
  • Linux Administration experience
  • Mix of Rack and Virtual systems experience
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work with a globally distributed team of passionate engineers
  • An exceptional academic track record from both high school and preferably university
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
  • Experience in managing and operating a fully automated server lab with the latest server and network silicon from leading vendors
  • Experience in developing and expanding MAAS (Metal as a Service) software to work with a large variety of server and network hardware
  • Experience in creating integrations with testing and scheduling software such as Testflinger
  • Experience in managing the physical setup of a lab, ensuring it is well structured and tidy, and executing changes either self or through remote hands
  • Experience in standardizing processes, configurations, and procedures in cooperation with engineers in other data centers
  • Experience in improving and extending hardware and network monitoring through automation
  • Experience in regularly updating asset management tools to ensure accuracy and completeness of hardware inventory
  • Experience in updating equipment firmware when appropriate
