Job Description
This role involves designing and reviewing telecommunications and electronic security systems for construction projects across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and commercial buildings, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with applicable codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform construction drawings and specifications for telecommunications systems in building projects.
- Design communication and telecommunication systems, including electronic security and audiovisual systems, for healthcare, education, and commercial clients.
- Analyze engineering documents and layout systems regarding components and parts.
- Research and respond to design issues and participate in value engineering sessions.
- Review and markup shop drawings and submittals, and assist in responding to RFIs and reviewing change orders.
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree from an ABET EAC accredited program or equivalent.
- Qualified candidates must have 4 years of related experience in telecommunications or construction drawings and specifications.
- Designing communications and/or telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients, including electronic security and audiovisual systems, in accordance with applicable codes.
- Ability to perform basic to moderately complex construction drawings and specifications of telecommunications systems for building construction.
- Ability to analyze engineering documents and layout systems regarding components and parts.
- Experience in researching and responding to design issues.
- Participation in value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering team.
- Ability to review and markup shop drawings and submittals.
- Ability to gather information to respond to RFIs and review change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Willingness to conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs of sites.
- Willingness to perform overtime work and travel as required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Revit is preferred.
- Physical ability to perform site visits which may require walking and physical movement.
