Job Description
This position involves leading the design and technical oversight of plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems for large-scale construction and renovation projects across various sectors, while mentoring team members and collaborating with clients and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee complex ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems in large-scale buildings.
- Perform and lead independent Mechanical design work across disciplines with minimal supervision.
- Assist with HVAC system design as needed.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversee work of junior staff and designers.
- Review and approve shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
- Create Revit BIM models of construction drawings for plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems.
- Specify equipment such as water heaters, plumbing fixtures, and pumps.
- Interface with clients and project team members, including attending meetings and managing project budgets.
- Participate in value engineering sessions and recommend process improvements.
- Respond to RFIs, review change orders, and support construction document development.
- Lead or participate in staff development, work planning, and project scheduling.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
- Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude.
- Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
- Must be able to work independently in all Mechanical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
- Must have the ability to engage effectively with clients.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus required.
