Job Description
This role involves contributing to architectural design, coordination, and detailing within a multidisciplinary team, with responsibilities including site visits, integrating sustainable strategies, supervising team members, and communicating project progress, all under the supervision of a Licensed Architect.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to design, production, coordination, and detailing of architectural projects.
- Prepare design sketches and site plans of moderate to complex scope.
- Coordinate engineering systems with consultants and team members.
- Communicate project status, design intent, and updates to stakeholders.
- Perform field site observations and visits.
- Integrate sustainable and performance-based design strategies into projects.
- Ensure technical quality and compliance with QA/QC standards and statutory requirements.
- Supervise, mentor, and lead work of interns and junior team members.
- Take leadership roles in project teams and meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture required.
- Minimum 8 years of related professional experience required.
- Current Architectural Registration in Canada preferred.
- Knowledge of building codes and requirements.
- Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
- Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work.
- Must be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to independently contribute to design, production, coordination, and architectural detailing as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to prepare design sketches of moderate to complex site plans.
- Ability to assist in coordination of engineering systems with engineers and consultants.
- Ability to communicate project status, design intent, construction updates, and other critical information clearly and compellingly to owners, consultants, and clients.
- Ability to perform field site observations, including physical walk-through of sites.
- Knowledge of integrating performance-based and sustainable design strategies into design solutions.
- Ability to utilize CannonDesign Method, including process expectations, best practices, reference standards, tools, templates, and technology.
- Ability to monitor the technical quality of projects by enforcing QA/QC process standards and statutory requirements.
- Experience supervising, monitoring, training, and directing work of interns and less experienced team members.
- Ability to take a leadership role within the project team and in team meetings.
