Job Description

This position is a senior project management and leadership role in an architecture and design firm, responsible for managing large projects, fostering client relationships, leading project teams, ensuring quality and compliance, and contributing to business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop client relationships to generate future opportunities
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality to meet objectives
  • Oversee design and documentation processes during construction
  • Coordinate and manage project team workload and activities
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and quality standards
  • Implement risk management and mitigation strategies
  • Facilitate effective communication among clients, team members, and stakeholders
  • Mentor and provide feedback to project team members
  • Participate in business development and marketing efforts
  • Manage project documentation, records, and contractual obligations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or related degree required.
  • Minimum of 12 years related experience, including managing projects with construction budgets of 70 million dollars or more.
  • Experience working on Sports projects preferred.
  • Current Licensure preferred.
  • LEED certification preferred.
  • Capability of performing in a project management role for large or multiple projects and training project managers.
  • Strong client leadership and project team management capability for large or multiple projects.
  • Must possess strong business acumen.
  • Ability to perform as a leader of authority, with expert level knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge, coordination skills and the ability to build a rapport with the project team and client.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Microsoft Office, MS Project, Deltek Vision, Bluebeam as well as other data management software.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive client relations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to communicate design, construction, and other issues to clients in a clear and compelling way.
  • Ability to develop a Partnering relationship with the client early in an engagement to establish shared expectations and provide clarity on how work will be performed, stakeholder involvement, and key decision timing.
  • Ability to ensure appropriate client and internal communication including written project documentation.
  • Ability to lead, develop, and nurture successful partnering relationships with clients to generate future opportunities.
  • Ability to understand contractual obligations to ensure team delivers on scope of work and required services.
  • Ability to work proactively with the client to identify and obtain approvals for scope of work or services additions prior to undertaking the work.
  • Ability to proactively communicate with and influence clients to approve and process payables for services.
  • Ability to lead project teams to develop project goals and work plans, and achieve quality, budget, schedule, innovation, and profitability objectives.
  • Ability to facilitate development, evolution, and management of work plan, budget, and schedule, preferably using MS Project and Deltek Project Planning.
  • Ability to manage design and documentation process and oversee implementation during construction.
  • Ability to maintain project records, including documenting key decisions within the standard file structure.
  • Accountability for risk mitigation and compliance, including developing and managing a risk management plan.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all team members and generate a positive team environment.
  • Ability to implement CannonDesign Method using process expectations, standards, tools, templates, and technology to achieve quality and productivity.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate team workload and provide leadership of team activities.
  • Ability to communicate client objectives clearly to team members and provide constructive feedback and mentoring.
  • Ability to identify lessons learned and share them with teams.
  • Ability to monitor work in progress and ensure adherence to best practice standards and procedures.
  • Responsibility for ensuring all statutory project requirements are achieved.
  • Accountability for the QA/QC process, including monitoring technical quality and enforcing standards.
  • Active participation in the QA/QC process and coordination with the Project Architect and Quality leader.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts with project leadership, Business Practice Leader, and Legal Team.
  • Ability to mentor less experienced staff and train other project managers.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
