Job Description

This position involves leading and managing large architectural or construction projects, overseeing client relationships, team coordination, project delivery, quality assurance, and financial performance within the Yazdani Studio of CannonDesign.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop client relationships to secure future opportunities and maintain positive relations throughout projects.
  • Manage project teams to develop goals, work plans, and achieve quality, budget, schedule, and profitability objectives.
  • Oversee design and documentation processes, including implementation during construction and maintaining project records.
  • Manage project risks, ensure compliance, and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate workload and provide leadership, mentorship, and feedback to project team members.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or related degree required.
  • Minimum of 12 years related experience, including managing projects with construction budgets of 70 million dollars or more.
  • Current Licensure preferred.
  • LEED certification preferred.
  • Capability of performing in a project management role for large or multiple projects and training project managers.
  • Strong client leadership and project team management capability for large or multiple projects.
  • Must possess strong business acumen.
  • Ability to perform as a leader of authority, with expert level knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge, coordination skills and the ability to build a rapport with the project team and client.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Microsoft Office, MS Project, Deltek Vision, Bluebeam as well as other data management software.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive client relations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to communicate design, construction, and other issues to clients in a clear and compelling way.
  • Ability to develop a Partnering relationship with the client early in an engagement to establish shared expectations and provide clarity on how work will be conducted, stakeholder involvement, and key decision timing.
  • Ability to understand contractual obligations to ensure the team delivers on scope of work and required services.
  • Ability to proactively work with the client to identify and obtain approvals for scope or service additions prior to work execution.
  • Ability to communicate with and influence clients to approve and process payables for services.
  • Ability to lead project teams to develop project goals and work plans, and achieve quality, budget, schedule, innovation, and profitability objectives.
  • Ability to facilitate development, evolution, and management of work plan, budget, and schedule, preferably using MS Project and Deltek Project Planning.
  • Ability to manage design and documentation process and oversee implementation during construction.
  • Accountability for maintaining project records, including documenting key decisions within the standard file structure.
  • Accountability for risk mitigation and compliance, including developing and managing a risk management plan.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all team members and generate a positive team environment.
  • Ability to implement CannonDesign Method using process expectations, standards, tools, templates, and technology.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate team workload and provide leadership of team activities.
  • Ability to communicate client objectives clearly to team members.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback, mentoring, and share lessons learned with teams.
  • Ability to monitor work in progress and ensure implementation of best practice standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring all statutory requirements are achieved for the project.
  • Accountability for the QA QC process and monitoring the technical quality of projects, including enforcing standards and requirements.
  • Active participation in the QAQC process and coordination with the Project Architect and Quality leader.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts with other project leadership, Business Practice Leader, and Legal Team.
  • Ability to serve as a mentor to less experienced staff and train other project managers.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
