The Regional Design Director leads creative excellence, manages design teams, and promotes innovative, impactful design solutions across a geographic region, while representing the firm externally and driving regional growth and organizational transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and ensure design excellence and quality across the regional portfolio.
Lead regional efforts to secure awards, recognition, and publications for projects.
Represent the firm externally at regional events, conferences, and speaking engagements.
Partner with marketing and communications to craft narratives and showcase regional work.
Lead select client projects, developing innovative design concepts aligned with client goals and societal needs.
Lead design presentations emphasizing storytelling and client understanding.
Mentor and develop regional design teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
Recruit, retain, and grow senior design talent within the region.
Ensure high-performance design teams across offices and fill talent gaps.
Contribute to regional and firm-wide strategic growth and business planning.
Engage with regional leadership to implement initiatives supporting regional growth and impact.
Demonstrate and promote personal and regional design talent through a strong portfolio and recognition.
Requirements
Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture required; Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture from an accredited program preferred.
Generally, at least 20 years of related experience in design leadership roles or equivalent is required.
A minimum of 3 years experience leading others in a design studio or design practice segment required.
Current US Architectural Registration preferred.
Design portfolio of significant built and unbuilt work.
Third party recognition of your work as a lead or supporting design role by local, regional, or national design awards programs and recognized design publications or digital platforms is preferred.
Strong oral presentation and storytelling skills required.
Must be able to understand and execute business strategy.
Travel required.
