A senior HVAC Mechanical Engineer responsible for designing, overseeing, and leading complex HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for large-scale buildings, providing technical guidance, client interaction, and project management within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Design and oversee complex HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for large-scale buildings.
Prepare Revit BIM models of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems from schematic design through construction phases.
Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Lead or participate in value engineering sessions to improve project design and efficiency.
Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
Coordinate with clients and project team members, including attending meetings and managing project budgets.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior staff and team members.
Respond to RFIs, review change orders, and assist in the preparation of construction documents.
Represent the company in project activities, business development, and marketing efforts.
Requirements
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
Current PE (Professional Engineer) license in the United States preferred.
LEED accreditation preferred.
Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.
Ability to work independently in all mechanical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
Must have the ability to engage effectively with clients.
Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work.
Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus required.
