Job Description
This position involves leading electrical engineering projects for building construction, including design, project management, technical leadership, and site supervision across various sectors such as healthcare, education, and commercial. The role requires overseeing design development, ensuring compliance with codes, and coordinating with clients and teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical engineering systems design for building construction
- Develop project designs, goals, and systems
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the engineering team
- Lead project teamwork planning sessions and engineering meetings
- Serve as project manager or engineering leader, managing project responsibilities and budgets
- Design electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems
- Prepare construction documents such as drawings and specifications
- Specify electrical equipment and guide less experienced team members in execution
- Conduct quality control reviews and serve as an independent reviewer in QAQC processes
- Manage project construction administration, including site visits, observing construction progress, and attending meetings
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience in electrical engineering.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to serve in QAQC process and as an independent reviewer for electrical engineering documents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to interface effectively with clients and members of the design team.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, and SKM Power Tools.
- Knowledge and application of electrical and building codes in building systems design.
- Ability to perform electrical systems design for building construction, including lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems.
- Experience in preparing construction documents including drawings and specifications.
- Experience in guiding less experienced team members in the execution of drawings.
- Experience in specifying electrical equipment.
- Experience in conducting site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs of the site.
- Ability to participate or lead project teamwork planning sessions and engineering meetings.
- Experience in project management or project engineering leadership, including assuming project engineering responsibilities and adhering to financial and work goals.
- Ability to review and markup shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, and review change orders.
- Experience in construction administration, including attending construction meetings and verifying construction progress.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical and building codes in building systems design.
- LEED accreditation is preferred.
