Job Description
This position involves leading electrical systems design and project management for building construction projects in healthcare, education, and commercial sectors, including preparing construction documents, overseeing site visits, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical systems design for building construction projects.
- Develop project designs, goals, and systems in collaboration with the team.
- Lead or participate in project planning, meetings, and teamwork sessions.
- Manage project engineering tasks, including adhering to budgets and work goals.
- Design lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems according to codes.
- Prepare construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Guide less experienced team members in drawing execution.
- Specify electrical equipment and complete quality control checks of engineering documents.
- Participate in value engineering sessions to improve project quality and efficiency.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders during construction.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
- Attend and contribute to construction meetings.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience in electrical engineering.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering in the United States.
- Ability to perform electrical engineering systems design for building construction, including lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients per applicable codes.
- Experience in preparing construction documents including drawings and specifications.
- Experience in guiding less experienced team members in the execution of drawings.
- Experience in specifying electrical equipment.
- Experience in completing quality control checks of engineering documents.
- Experience in reviewing and markup of shop drawings and submittals.
- Experience in responding to RFIs and reviewing change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Experience conducting job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs of sites.
- Ability to work independently in all electrical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
- Ability to engage effectively with clients.
- Experience with computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, and SKM Power Tools.
