Job Description
This intermediate-level interior design position involves leading and coordinating all phases of interior projects for a large healthcare facility, including design development, client communication, documentation, and site visits, within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of project goals through all phases including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
- Evaluate client needs, analyze design objectives, and document spatial requirements.
- Research, evaluate, and coordinate furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) throughout all project phases.
- Coordinate design work, standards, and code compliance within the team and with other disciplines.
- Develop interior space designs including floor plans, elevations, details, and finishes.
- Select and evaluate materials, consult with vendors, and produce drawings within project constraints.
- Assist in project planning, budgeting, and follow through of work plans.
- Participate in client meetings, lead when requested, and assist in project communication.
- Mentor and supervise less experienced interior design staff.
- Participate in construction administration activities such as site visits, review of submittals, and punch list completion.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience in interior design or architecture
- Current NCIDQ certification is preferred
- Must be design focused and an independent thinker
- Must be analytical with the ability to evaluate and select materials and consult with vendors
- Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong communication, teamwork, presentation, graphics, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to produce drawings in conformance with project time, budget, and quality constraints
- Experience in developing interior space designs including floor plans, elevations, details, room finishes, and pattern designs
- Experience in evaluating client needs, analyzing and documenting design objectives and spatial requirements
- Experience in coordinating design work, standards, and code compliance within a multidisciplinary team including architecture, engineering, and consultants
- Experience in participating in construction administration activities such as site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch list inspections
- Ability to independently evaluate and select materials and consult with vendors
- Ability to assist in project planning, follow through of work plans, and budgeting
- Experience leading or assisting in client meetings
- Experience mentoring and supervising less experienced interior design staff
- Ability to follow and maintain CannonDesign drawing standards
- Willingness to travel as required
- Professional business attire required for client meetings, including suits, ties, collared dress shirts, dresses, and skirts
- Ability to perform physical site visits, including site walk-throughs
