The Project Architect will lead the development and coordination of architectural projects, overseeing design, technical quality, team leadership, client relations, and ensuring compliance with standards and sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design, production, coordination, and detailing of architectural projects within a multidisciplinary team.
Coordinate engineering systems with engineers and consultants to ensure integrated project deliverables.
Prepare design sketches for site plans and communicate project updates to stakeholders.
Participate in business development activities to support firm growth.
Perform field site observations and visits to monitor project progress.
Develop and maintain positive client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Integrate performance-based and sustainable design strategies into project solutions.
Implement project management processes and best practices to ensure quality, efficiency, and profitability.
Supervise, train, and lead project team members, including interns and less experienced staff.
Ensure technical quality and compliance through QA/QC standards and statutory requirements.
Requirements
Minimum Bachelor degree in a relevant field required
Minimum 8 years of related professional experience required
Current Architectural Registration in the United States required
Knowledge of building codes and requirements
Must possess business acumen
Must be a critical thinker
Must be highly analytical
Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work
Must have the ability to be client facing with strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required
Lead design, production, coordination, and architectural detailing as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Lead and assist in coordination of engineering systems with engineers and consultants
Prepare design sketches of moderate to complex site plans
Communicate project status, design intent, construction updates, and other critical information clearly to owners, consultants, and clients
Participate in Business Development activity and partner with Marketing and Office Leadership as needed
Perform field site observations, including physical walk-through of site
Develop and maintain positive client relations throughout the project lifecycle
Facilitate integration of performance-based and sustainable design strategies into design solutions
Lead project teams by implementing CannonDesign Method using process expectations, best practices, reference standards, tools, templates, and technology
Create a stimulating and rewarding environment that promotes design and technical excellence
Empower staff and delegate effectively to build high-performance teams
Supervise, monitor, train, and direct work of interns and less experienced team members
Monitor the technical quality of projects by enforcing QA QC process standards and requirements
Ensure all statutory requirements for the project are achieved
Perform other duties as assigned
