Job Description
This position involves designing and managing HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection, for various building projects, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and ensuring project specifications, budgets, and construction standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection.
- Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and create construction drawings using Revit BIM.
- Assist with Plumbing and Fire Protection system design as needed.
- Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
- Coordinate work activities with project team members and participate in meetings.
- Respond to RFIs, review change orders, and support project management tasks.
- Research and troubleshoot emergent issues related to mechanical systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States preferred.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
- Must possess a working knowledge and experience in engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus, with ongoing development of higher-level knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience performing design and directing the design of ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for HVAC systems independently on assigned projects.
- Experience calculating heating and cooling loads, designing ductwork and piping layouts, and using energy modeling software.
- Experience preparing Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings for HVAC systems from schematic design to construction administration phases, including layout, sketches, and detail drawings.
- Experience performing Revit BIM modeling for plumbing and fire protection systems as necessary.
- Ability to review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
- Ability to interface effectively with clients and project team members, including attending Owner, Architect, and Construction Administration meetings with an understanding of project budgets.
- Experience responding to RFIs and reviewing change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Ability to conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs of sites.
- Experience attending and participating in construction meetings.
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
