Job Description
This position involves supporting the commissioning of building systems, primarily HVAC and mechanical systems, through field testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and coordination with project teams to ensure operational readiness and compliance across various sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute commissioning activities for HVAC and mechanical systems, including review of drawings, specifications, and control sequences.
- Develop and implement commissioning plans, schedules, checklists, test forms, and reports.
- Perform functional performance testing, system start-up support, troubleshooting, and documentation of results.
- Coordinate commissioning activities with project teams, contractors, vendors, and testing agencies.
- Verify system start-up, controls, and integrated testing, and track deficiencies to resolution.
- Maintain and manage commissioning documentation, including reports, test records, and issue logs.
- Participate in project meetings to provide updates on commissioning progress and issues.
- Conduct site visits for condition verification, construction progress observation, and system testing support.
Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in commissioning, HVAC system design, or building automation design, or closely related field work.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering required; Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems and terminology, including a basic understanding of controls BAS sequences and how systems operate in the field.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents such as plans, specifications, control sequences, and technical reports, and translate them into test procedures and clear field documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety and quality, with the ability to follow site safety requirements and work effectively in active construction environments.
- Ability to travel to project sites and perform field work that includes walking sites, climbing ladders and stairs, and accessing rooftops and mechanical spaces, as required.
- Ability and willingness to complete mandatory compliance training and adhere to internal policies and the company's Code of Conduct.
