Job Description
This position involves designing and managing HVAC systems for various construction projects, including education, healthcare, and commercial buildings, with responsibilities ranging from system layout and equipment selection to project coordination and site visits, under the supervision of a licensed engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection.
- Assist with plumbing and fire protection system design as needed.
- Supervise or manage projects within the mechanical discipline, monitoring progress and budgets.
- Calculate heating and cooling loads, and create system layouts using energy modeling software.
- Prepare Revit BIM models of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems from schematic to construction phases.
- Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
- Interface with clients and project team members, attending meetings and responding to RFIs and change orders.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
- Coordinate work activities on projects with team members and participate in business development activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States preferred.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
- Must possess a working knowledge and experience in engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
