A Mechanical Assessor role involving on-site evaluation of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems in various buildings, identifying deficiencies, providing remediation recommendations, and supporting project teams with assessments and cost estimates.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct on-site facility condition assessments of mechanical and plumbing systems in various asset types.
Identify deficiencies in HVAC, ductwork, piping, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, and fire protection systems.
Document system conditions, critical issues, and remediation recommendations with cost estimates.
Collaborate with clients and on-site personnel to assess assets and gather operational information.
Evaluate system condition, remaining useful life, and required remedial measures.
Lead and support junior assessors, ensuring work quality and technical accuracy.
Prepare project documentation and progress reports for review.
Review peer work and participate in post-project evaluations.
Requirements
A minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
Experience with mechanical systems to perform a comprehensive evaluation of HVAC, plumbing, and other building equipment.
Direct experience in conducting facility condition assessments for mechanical and plumbing equipment strongly preferred.
Experience assessing healthcare and educational institutions strongly preferred.
Prior cost estimating experience is a plus.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong proficiency with AutoCAD is required.
Must have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated experience with Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, Tablets and Mobile device tools preferred.
Must be willing to travel up to 40% for out-of-town assignments, with projects typically including one week in the field followed by two weeks in the office.
Must be physically able to walk the stated areas each day, climb fixed and extension ladders, and walk on roof surfaces up to a 3 12 slope.
