An entry-level lighting design position involving the preparation of construction documents, designing lighting and control systems, and supporting project development across various markets such as healthcare, education, and commercial sectors under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in preparing basic construction documents and specifications for lighting and control systems under supervision.
Design lighting and control systems for healthcare, education, and commercial clients under supervision.
Analyze lighting and engineering documents and develop system layouts.
Apply electrical and energy codes, as well as IES recommendations, to lighting and control system design.
Perform illuminance and lighting power density calculations and complete related documentation.
Assist in reviewing and marking up shop drawings and submittals.
Gather information to respond to RFIs and review change orders during construction document preparation.
Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related degree by the hire date.
Coursework in building systems engineering or architecture is strongly preferred.
Related student internship work experience is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively handle multiple project tasks.
Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit MEP, AGI, ElumTools, and ComCheck is preferred.
Proficiency in graphic design and image editing software Adobe Creative Suite.
Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in Bluebeam, Teams, Trello, Procore, and Miro is preferred.
Willingness to perform overtime work.

Ability to perform illuminance and lighting power density calculations, and complete ComCheck and other record documents such as documentation for rebates, incentives, LEED, WELL certification, and other project-required records under limited supervision.
Ability to assist in reviewing and marking up shop drawings and submittals.
Ability to assist in gathering information to respond to RFI's and review change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
Willingness to visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical site walk-throughs.
Must be willing to perform physical site visits and work in a construction environment.
Physical ability to perform site visits which frequently require a physical walk-through of the site.
