Job Description
An entry-level lighting design position involving the preparation of construction documents, system design, and site visits, under supervision, for projects across various markets such as healthcare, education, and commercial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in preparing basic construction documents and specifications for lighting and control systems under supervision
- Design lighting and control systems for healthcare, education, and commercial clients under supervision
- Analyze lighting and engineering documents and develop system layouts
- Apply electrical and energy codes, as well as IES recommendations, to lighting and control system design
- Perform illuminance and lighting power density calculations and complete related documentation
- Assist in reviewing shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related degree by the hire date.
- Coursework in building systems engineering or architecture is strongly preferred.
- Related student internship work experience is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively handle multiple project tasks.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit MEP, AGI, ElumTools, or ComCheck is preferred.
- Proficiency in graphic design and image editing software Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be willing to perform overtime work.
- Physical ability to perform site visits, including walking through construction sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
