Job Description
A Project Finance Associate at New Leaf Energy will participate in the development and financing of solar energy and energy storage projects, managing cross-functional teams, coordinating project milestones, and supporting legal and contractual processes from project origination to closing.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project development and financing of solar energy and energy storage projects
- Manage cross-functional teams to complete project development tasks related to real estate, permitting, and interconnection
- Maintain project management tools to organize processes and facilitate transaction closings
- Lead the creation and organization of data rooms and support project marketing, award, and closing activities
- Track project milestones and forecast development timelines
- Communicate with internal stakeholders and external clients regarding project progress
- Oversee permitting, interconnection, and related contract management
- Assist in preparing and organizing legal transaction documents such as LOIs and MIPAs
- Draft and negotiate project contracts including site leases, PPAs, easements, and property tax agreements
Requirements
- Minimum 2 to 4 years experience working in the renewable energy industry with a focus on project development and financing
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
- Ability to participate in project development and financing of solar energy and energy storage projects, including detailed analysis of project risks and resolution thereof, as well as forecasting of critical development milestones
- Experience managing cross-functional teams to complete critical project development tasks through an in-depth understanding of real estate, project permitting, and interconnection processes
- Proficiency in maintaining checklists, schedules, and other project management tools required to keep the process organized and allow transactions to close quickly
- Experience leading the creation and organization of detailed data rooms and supporting all project marketing, award, and closing processes
- Ability to track inter-departmental deliverables and forecast project milestone dates
- Effective communication skills and ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients project buyers
- Experience managing the progress of permitting, interconnection, and all associated contracts for projects
- Assist in the preparation and organization of legal transaction documents including Letters of Intent (LOIs) and Membership Interest Purchase Agreements (MIPAs)
- Assist in the drafting and negotiation of critical project contracts, including site lease agreements, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), easements, and property tax agreements
