Job Description
This position involves designing electrical systems for building construction projects, including lighting, power distribution, and communication systems, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and ensuring compliance with electrical codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, communications, and fire alarm systems for construction projects.
- Create and analyze construction drawings and specifications for electrical engineering systems.
- Review and markup shop drawings and submittals, and respond to RFIs and change orders.
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
- Research and resolve design issues related to electrical systems.
- Participate in value engineering sessions with architectural and engineering teams.
- Apply electrical codes and standards to building power distribution and circuiting design.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs, specifically Revit, required.
- Apply knowledge of electrical code for the application of building power distribution design and circuiting.
- Perform basic to moderately complex construction drawings and specifications of electrical engineering systems for building construction.
- Design lighting, power distribution, communications, and/or telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients, including fire alarm systems, under limited supervision.
- Analyze engineering documents and layout systems in regard to components and parts.
- Research and respond to design issues.
- Participate in value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering team.
- Assist in the review and markup of shop drawings and submittals.
- Assist in gathering information to respond to RFIs and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of site.
- Apply knowledge of electrical code for building power distribution design and circuiting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects.
