This position involves supporting electrical engineering projects through preparing construction drawings, designing systems such as lighting and power distribution, and conducting site visits under the supervision of a licensed engineer, primarily for educational, healthcare, and commercial buildings.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare basic construction drawings and specifications of electrical systems for building projects.
Design electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, communications, and fire alarm systems for various clients.
Analyze engineering documents and layout systems regarding components and parts.
Research and respond to design issues and apply electrical codes to building systems.
Review and markup shop drawings and submittals.
Assist in gathering information for RFIs and review change orders during construction document preparation.
Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
Requirements
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of related work experience required.
Must have strong communication, teamwork, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Navisworks or similar applications preferred.
Under supervision, prepare basic construction drawings and specifications of electrical engineering systems for building construction.
Under supervision, design lighting, power distribution, communications and or telecommunication systems for healthcare, education higher education and commercial clients, including fire alarm systems.
Analyze engineering documents and layout systems in regard to components and parts.
Research and respond to design issues.
Apply knowledge of electrical code for the application of building power distribution design and circuiting.
Assist in the review and markup of shop drawings and submittals.
Assist in gathering information to respond to RFIs and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of site.
Must be able to perform physical walk-through of site during visits.
