Job Description
This position involves supporting electrical engineering projects through preparing construction drawings, designing systems such as lighting and power distribution, conducting site visits, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of a licensed engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare basic construction drawings and specifications for electrical systems under supervision
- Design lighting, power distribution, communication, and telecommunication systems for various building types
- Analyze engineering documents and layout systems for components and parts
- Research and respond to design issues
- Apply electrical code knowledge to building power distribution and circuiting
- Recommend improvements to enhance quality, coordination, and efficiency
- Review and markup shop drawings and submittals
- Gather information for RFIs and review change orders
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of related work experience required.
- Must have strong communication, teamwork, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Navisworks or similar applications preferred.
- Under supervision, prepare basic construction drawings and specifications of electrical engineering systems for building construction.
- Under supervision, design lighting, power distribution, communications and or telecommunication systems for healthcare, education higher education and commercial clients, including fire alarm systems.
- Analyze engineering documents and layout systems in regard to components and parts.
- Research and respond to design issues.
- Apply knowledge of electrical code for the application of building power distribution design and circuiting.
- Assist in the review and markup of shop drawings and submittals.
- Assist in gathering information to respond to RFIs and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, which may require a physical walk-through of the site.
- Complete mandatory training, including compliance training, within required timeframes as a condition of employment.
