Job Description
This position involves electrical engineering design and project management for healthcare and commercial building projects, including creating construction documents, overseeing site visits, and guiding team members under the supervision of a senior engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project planning sessions and lead as needed
- Perform electrical systems design for building construction, including lighting, power, signaling, and communication systems
- Prepare construction documents such as drawings and specifications
- Guide less experienced team members in drawing execution
- Specify electrical equipment and complete quality control checks on engineering documents
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
- Attend and participate in construction meetings
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience in electrical engineering.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering in the United States.
- Must possess working knowledge and experience in electrical engineering systems design, including lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients, in accordance with applicable codes.
- Experience in performing electrical engineering systems design for building construction and preparing construction documents including drawings and specifications.
- Ability to guide less experienced team members in the execution of drawings.
- Experience in specifying electrical equipment and completing quality control checks of engineering documents and layout systems regarding components and parts.
- Experience participating in value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering teams and recommending improvements to standards and processes to improve quality, coordination, and streamline production efforts.
- Ability to review and markup shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, and review change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Experience conducting job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs of the site.
- Ability to attend and participate in construction meetings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, and SKM Power Tools.
- Professional business attire required for client meetings, including suits, ties, collared dress shirts, dresses, and skirts.
- Travel required for the position.
