Job Description
This role involves designing electrical systems for construction projects across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and commercial buildings, with responsibilities such as creating drawings, specifications, and conducting site visits to ensure proper implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical engineering systems including lighting, power distribution, communications, and fire alarm systems for construction projects.
- Create and analyze construction drawings and specifications for electrical systems.
- Participate in value engineering sessions with architectural and engineering teams.
- Apply electrical codes to building power distribution and circuiting designs.
- Review and markup shop drawings and submittals.
- Assist in responding to RFIs and reviewing change orders during construction.
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
Requirements
- Perform basic to moderately complex construction drawings and specifications of electrical engineering systems for building construction.
- Design lighting, power distribution, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education higher education, and commercial clients, including fire alarm systems, under limited supervision.
- Analyze engineering documents and layout systems in regard to components and parts.
- Research and respond to design issues.
- Participate in value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering team.
- Apply knowledge of electrical code for the application of building power distribution design and circuiting.
- Recommend improvements with reference standards and processes to improve quality, coordination, and to streamline production efforts.
- Assist in the review and markup of shop drawings and submittals.
- Assist in gathering information to respond to RFIs and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of site.
- Hold a minimum of a Bachelor in Engineering or Bachelor in Technology.
- Have a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
