Job Description

This role involves collaborating with healthcare and design teams to develop strategic master plans and operational workflows for clinical laboratory facilities within healthcare campuses, utilizing expertise in clinical processes, space programming, and healthcare planning to optimize facility design and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with architects, clinicians, strategists, and designers to develop healthcare facility designs that align with client visions.
  • Conduct clinical lab process analysis across medical campuses to optimize workflows and space planning.
  • Guide discussions on medical equipment and technology needs for clinical spaces.
  • Support the creation of strategic campus master plans and departmental level plans in collaboration with clients and design teams.
  • Develop operational workflows, functional space programs, and department floor plans reflecting clinical operations.
  • Create baseline and future clinical service plans to inform master programming and planning aligned with future facility goals.
  • Estimate program and service resource requirements, including laboratory capacity, equipment, and circulation pathways.
  • Coordinate contracted deliverables to ensure alignment with project schedules.
  • Communicate healthcare planning concepts to clients and project teams through reports and presentations.
  • Develop space programs, workflows, and strategic plans under project leadership guidance.
  • Participate in industry associations and continuously update knowledge in healthcare facility design and planning.
  • Mentor staff in healthcare planning and design processes.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or other applicable field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of working knowledge of Clinical Laboratory operations experience is required.
  • Experience working within the healthcare-built environment for at least 5 years is required.
  • Foundational knowledge of Clinical Laboratory equipment, regulatory requirements, and analytical methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical workflows, healthcare delivery systems, current trends, and national and regional benchmarks is required.
  • Experience documenting meeting minutes and capturing stakeholder input.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite, Visio, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Significant travel required.
