Job Description

The Lead Assessment and Impact Analytics at the Bezos Earth Fund is responsible for providing quantitative and technoeconomic analysis to support strategic decision-making and evaluate the impact of climate and nature-related interventions across various sectors, aiming to maximize environmental outcomes and resource allocation effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with grant leads to estimate impacts of grant portfolios on greenhouse gas emissions and nature outcomes
  • Develop and lead technoeconomic assessments of climate and nature interventions, evaluating technology readiness, performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Support decision-making by integrating engineering, economic, and environmental analyses across sectors
  • Provide technology-to-market insights, identifying barriers, enablers, and inflection points for innovation scale-up
  • Evaluate risks, uncertainties, and opportunities associated with emerging technologies and interventions
  • Assess and develop analytical tools, methods, and data to ensure consistency in decision-making across the portfolio
  • Incorporate rigorous analytical methods such as scenario analysis, energy modeling, and economic modeling into decision processes
  • Gather and synthesize external datasets into clear data products to support strategic decisions
  • Assess and communicate the impacts of grants internally and externally in collaboration with relevant teams

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or PhD with a strong emphasis on quantitative methods for decision making.
  • At least 10 years of full-time work experience on climate- and or nature-related issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply rigorous analysis to inform strategic decisions in real world settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in GHG impact assessment, technology evaluation, technoeconomic assessment, and or decision support related to climate or nature.
  • Proven track record of using quantitative methods to inform strategic decisions around greenhouse gas outcomes and nature protection.
  • Familiarity with relevant forecasting models around climate and nature, e.g., emissions scenarios and greenhouse gas accounting methods for sectors including energy and land use.
  • Comfort designing, using, and interpreting a variety of quantitative methods in situations of limited data and high uncertainty.
  • Experience conducting technology assessments, economic assessments, and market analysis for technologies.
  • Experience assessing policy, regulatory, and market dynamics that influence technology deployment and impact.
  • Experience conducting structured, forward-looking assessments to inform investment or funding decisions.
  • Ability to break down and simplify analyses for effective communication to grant leads and leadership.
  • Interest in, or experience with, leveraging AI to strengthen analytical approaches and decision support.
  • Ability to work productively with colleagues from different disciplinary backgrounds and with varying objectives and approaches.
  • Collaborative working style with proven diplomatic approach, responsiveness, flexibility, and personable demeanor.
  • Enthusiastic and natural team player with the ability to build trust and work with cross-functional teams in a hybrid environment.
  • Ability to juggle multiple assignments simultaneously, often under tight deadlines, with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work.
  • Excellent writing, editing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work extended hours for urgent issues or to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to undertake limited domestic and/or international travel less than 10 times annually.

Competitive salary range of $220,000 - $250,000 per year
