The Communications Manager at the Bezos Earth Fund is responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans, managing media relationships, and leveraging various channels to promote environmental and climate initiatives, working closely with senior leaders and external partners in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive communications plans to promote news across various channels
Create and manage content such as press releases, blog posts, social media copy, and talking points
Advise senior leaders on communication strategies and media engagement
Leverage industry conferences, events, and other venues for news and thought leadership
Build and maintain relationships with media, influencers, and external partners
Drive results through storytelling and media outreach to shift perception and increase awareness
Requirements
Proven experience working and developing relationships with media, including securing proactive stories in online, print, broadcast, and emerging press channels such as Substack, podcasts, and social media.
Ability to think big and creatively to drive results both with or without news, and to dive deep on subject matter across environmental, climate, nature, and science to become an expert in the work they are supporting.
Well versed in all communications channels, including social media, events, conferences, and other venues, with the ability to leverage these channels to drive news.
Experience building comprehensive communications plans on a yearly basis and creating bespoke plans to drive news across Bezos Earth Fund pillars.
Ability to execute against communications plans and deliver results through storytelling across press and other channels.
Proficiency in drafting and editing documents, press releases, blog posts, talking points, social media copy, and similar materials.
Ability to provide counsel and direction to senior leaders on an ongoing basis.
Experience leveraging industry conferences and events for news and thought leadership, working closely with senior leaders.
Ability to be proactive and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working with senior leaders, including staffing, providing counsel, and developing ideas.
Proven ability to drive news campaigns and deliver results that shift perception and awareness for key audiences.
Strong relationship-building skills with press, influencers, or other external partners.
Strong writing skills.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, demonstrating being a team player.
Ability to work effectively with press and reporters.
Well versed in social media channel communication.
Eagerness, positive attitude, and the ability to think big.
Organized and detail-oriented work approach.
Physical ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods, with the flexibility to work extended hours for urgent issues or deadlines.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Minimum education requirement of a Bachelor's degree or higher.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in communications.
