Job Description

The role involves leading a team to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient integration of Aurora's self-driving technology into various vehicle platforms, focusing on system hardware-software integration, fault tolerance, testing, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and reliable deployment of the Aurora Driver across various vehicle and compute platforms.
  • Interface with vehicle ECUs to monitor vehicle state and control, detect errors, and initiate behavioral responses.
  • Build and maintain testing infrastructure to validate system integration and performance on target platforms.
  • Map software components to hardware to ensure compatibility within hardware constraints.
  • Monitor onboard system performance and identify areas for optimization.
  • Manage onboard software orchestration for launching and maintaining system components.
  • Optimize primary and secondary product functions for speed and reliability during vehicle operation.
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers to develop plans and execute technical programs.
  • Make technical decisions balancing effort, value, and risk, while directing program execution.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and schedule risks to meet project objectives.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, aerospace, or complex autonomy systems, with a minimum of 3 years in a formal management or Technical Lead Manager (TLM) role.
  • Proven track record of integrating complex software stacks onto diverse hardware embedded platforms.
  • Experience building automated test infrastructure to validate software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integrations.
  • A history of successfully navigating technical trade-offs between software, embedded, hardware challenges and solutions.
  • The ability to translate vague product goals into concrete technical requirements and execution plans.
  • Strong experience with ECU communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Familiarity with how onboard systems interact with cloud services for remote human guidance or telemetry.
  • Experience in redundancy patterns, and fault-tolerant architecture for safety-critical systems.
  • Experience working directly with Tier 1 automotive suppliers or OEMs on platform-specific integration.

Benefits & Perks

Base salary range of $171,000 to $247,000 per year
Annual bonus eligibility
Equity compensation
Hybrid work environment with in-office presence at least 3 days per week
