Job Description
This position involves designing and managing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for various construction projects, including educational, healthcare, and commercial buildings, under the supervision of a licensed engineer. The role includes technical design, project coordination, site visits, and client interaction within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection, independently or under supervision.
- Assist with Plumbing and Fire Protection system designs as needed.
- Supervise or provide project management within the mechanical discipline, monitoring progress and budgets.
- Calculate heating and cooling loads, and develop layouts using energy modeling software.
- Create Revit BIM models for construction drawings of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
- Interface with clients and project team members, attending meetings and managing project budgets.
- Respond to RFIs, review change orders, and prepare construction documents.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
- Participate in construction meetings and coordinate work activities on projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States preferred.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
- Must possess a working knowledge and experience in engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
