Job Description
The role involves leading the development of scalable backend services and systems for autonomous vehicle fleet management, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build solutions that optimize fleet operations, improve autonomy, and support commercial deployment at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of scalable cloud backend services and APIs for fleet management and real-time data processing.
- Design and build complex, high-availability systems to support autonomous vehicle operations and fleet optimization.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver features that enhance autonomous vehicle fleet management and commercial operations.
- Mentor and guide senior engineers, influence architectural decisions, and promote engineering best practices.
- Translate operational data and autonomy metrics into actionable insights through APIs and operator-facing tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of industry experience in software development, with a proven track record of designing, building, and operating large-scale backend systems.
- Deep expertise in cloud backend development, including scalable web services, distributed systems, and modern API design.
- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices such as AWS, Kubernetes, Elasticache, CI/CD, and monitoring alerting systems.
- Experience building large-scale gRPC services in Golang.
- Experience in a leadership role, including driving technical strategy, influencing architectural decisions, and mentoring senior engineers.
- Experience defining technical roadmaps and driving long-term strategic projects that span multiple engineering teams.
- Phenomenal communication skills, including the ability to write effective technical specifications, provide feedback, translate technical concepts into lay terms, and incorporate feedback.
- Ability to partner with Product Managers, Designers, Autonomy, and Operations Stakeholders to deliver solutions quickly, safely, and broadly.
- Ability to architect and build scalable cloud backend services that support real-time and offline data flows for fleet optimization, autonomy improvement, and commercial operations.
- Experience developing and deploying robust, well-engineered solutions leveraging modern cloud technologies, including building highly available, low-latency backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Experience designing complex systems from the ground up, including partnering closely with Software, Hardware, and Infrastructure engineering teams.
- Ability to translate complex operational data and autonomy metrics into actionable insights through scalable operator-facing tools and APIs.
- Willingness to use good judgment to balance speed and quality, and to deliver responsible and sustainable products.
- A self-starter mentality capable of thriving in a growing environment where all hands are on deck, with a proactive approach to identifying and filling needs.
