Job Description
A Technical Product Manager at Aurora will lead cross-functional teams to develop and prioritize autonomous driving algorithms, manage complex projects, and ensure the successful delivery of innovative self-driving technology products in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Behavior Planning and software teams to plan and prioritize development efforts.
- Assess requirements, facilitate option selection, and coordinate team activities to evolve tools and processes.
- Track project progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks, and communicate status to stakeholders.
- Manage large-scale, cross-functional projects, ensuring efficient workflows and momentum.
- Remove obstacles, identify communication gaps, and support teams in balancing priorities.
- Understand technical architectures and propose technical alternatives when necessary.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years experience as a Technical Program Manager, Product Manager, Engineering Manager, or Engineer in an autonomous systems, robotics, data science, machine learning, computer vision, or software development environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related area, or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability.
- A strong familiarity with machine learning models, robotics or computer vision systems and their architecture.
- Experience in designing, developing, and launching groundbreaking products or delivering significant and novel technology programs with measurable impact.
- High technical aptitude with the ability to understand technical designs, software development lifecycle, challenges, and risks, and work closely with engineers.
- Practical experience in project management with familiarity in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and the ability to apply them where best suited.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adjust communication based on the audience.
- Ability to understand technical implementation at the architectural level and propose technical alternatives when necessary.
- Ability to assess requirements, facilitate selection of the best options, and coordinate teams to evolve tools and operational processes.
- Ability to track progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks, communicate status to upper management and project stakeholders, and engage project teams to achieve goals.
- Experience managing complex projects at a large scale, spanning many functional teams and cross-functional initiatives.
- Ability to remove obstacles, identify communication or schedule gaps, manage issue escalations, and support teams in balancing competing priorities.
- Passion for shipping new-to-market products and the ability to adapt to new responsibilities dynamically.
